Jewellery design has been something I first embarked on about 25 years ago whilst traveling through Africa.
What floats your boat?
What have you stumbled across in your lifetime which has inspired a new talent? What is laying just below the surface waiting for a purpose to uncover it, like a buried treasure being dug up in the sand?
I have often found that I find new skills when I am seeking a solution to a puzzle in my life. Creativity is a huge benefit and aspect of myself which promotes progress.
I love jewellery design because of the colour in the gemstones, the earth where they were buried and eventually excitedly discovered. I love the gold from the earth which shines like the sun and we can wear upon our skin.
Adornment is a part of every culture of the world. Every single culture, ever known to man, has adorned themselves with some type of earth which they deemed precious and symbolic.
Have you ever realised this?
Every single culture, every peoples, hold meaning in adornment. It so beautiful and intrinsic of what it is to be human and to symbolise meaningful rites of passage in ones life. No matter where you are, no matter what your net worth, adornment rules and speaks the language of love and importance all over the planet.
Jewellery design is important to me, because I see it as a way to join people to their life’s journey. It may be joining 2 people together or a whole family or tribe. It may also be an individual honoring themselves and symbolising their present state.
Either way, I began designing jewellery for the sheer joy of it and knowing what it gives to the wearer. So beautiful in signifying a moment in their glorious life.
